Western Australia Welcomes Malaysians for a Time of Adventure

Western Australia is inviting visitors from all over the world – including Malaysia, the third largest market with over 100,000 visitors to Western Australia in 2019 – to Australia’s largest state which boasts the longest coastline and many activities for great adventures. Only 5 hours away from Kuala Lumpur to Perth by flight, a trip to Western Australia is bound to be an adventure-filled one.

The western gateway to Australia, Western Australia is the only Australian state that shares the same time zone as Malaysia, translating to the absence of time difference and jet lags and allowing visitors to start exploring from the get-go.

Its capital city, Perth, gains the accolade of Australia’s sunniest capital city. Western Australia is home to some of the most intriguing reef and rock formations – also designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites – including the longest coastline in the country at 12,889 kilometres. The state is also near the Humpback Whale migration route, where tourist can see the gentle giants in Margaret River, Albany, Perth and the Coral Coast, and plays host to the Quokkas, also known as the happiest animal on earth.

Malaysian tourists have plenty of exciting activities to choose, from going free-and-easy in the city to seeking adventures in Western Australia. For example, venturing into the Pinnacles while on a scenic drive, go on a food tour at Swan Valley and Margaret River, visit the famous 70 square kilometres pink Hutt Lagoon, or take an enjoyable walk among the ancient timbers of Karri Forest.

Here are some exciting activities Malaysians can explore while in Western Australia:

1. Experience the adrenaline rush at Matgarup Zip+Climb

Perth’s Matagarup Bridge – connecting East Perth to the Optus Stadium precinct – is the centrepiece for an iconic new adventure tourism attraction, the Matagarup Bridge Zip + Climb. Visitors can climb the 314 steps to reach the bridge’s 72-metre-high Sky View platform – offering stunning 360-degree views over the city, Swan River and Optus Stadium. For the adventure seekers, they can then make their way to the launch platform of the bridge, sitting 35-metres above the Swan River, to zip-line 400 metres across the river to a landing platform in Burswood Park.

2. Take in breath-taking views at The Ozone at Optus Stadium

The Ozone is the destination to experience all the unique tour offerings at Perth’s Optus Stadium. The new HALO rooftop tours provide breathtaking views of the stadium, where visitors climb 78 steps to the rooftop before taking a seat 42-metres above the ground to take in the expansive sight. VERTIGO is another rooftop experience available, where visitors and tour groups can walk along a new platform projecting five metres beyond the edge of the stadium roof. The new experience also allows the more daring participants to lean out from the rail-less platform towards the playing field. The new platform is accessible to all ages and abilities, with lift access available for those that require it.

3. Visit the WA Museum Boola Bardip (Perth)

Located in the heart of Perth’s Cultural Centre, the WA Museum Boola Bardip is a landmark building showcasing WA’s extraordinary people, places, culture and stories in one world-class facility. The dramatic design of the building brings together a stunning mix of heritage and contemporary architecture, taking inspiration from the State’s iconic land formations.

The exhibitions are presented with exceptional visitor experiences, innovative technology and dynamic display methods and include a strong focus on Aboriginal and multicultural stories. The Museum includes 6,000 square metres of new gallery spaces, including a 1,000 square metre space to stage largescale, special exhibitions. Visitors will also experience learning studios to engage in the behind-the-scenes work of the Museum, programs, activities and events for people of all ages, and a range of food, beverage and retail spaces for all tastes. To top off the state-of-the-art build, the iconic 24-metre blue whale skeleton has returned in a spectacular new display.

4. Relax on the Sea West barbecue boat

Cruise the Ocean Marina and Venetian Canal in Mandurah and do it in style onboard Western Australia's only donut-shaped electric boats while enjoying a picnic or cooking barbecue on the boat. Drive past impressive yachts as well as trendy bars and restaurants to Dolphin Pool - a small inlet with shallow bays and mooring spots. Cruise, grill and chill while taking in beautiful views. At the right time, tourists may also spot the bottlenose dolphins, swans and pelicans too.
